“Alexa, open UKMortgages…”

Everyone likes a bit of magic – and now consumers who own an Amazon Echo smart speaker device can ask Alexa, Amazon’s friendly virtual assistant to ‘open UKMortgages’ -  and they can search for a mortgage or a local adviser. 

Developed to support consumers and drive business to mortgage advisers, our UKMortgages Amazon Echo Skill is an industry-first. The new Skill is a combination of our technical knowhow, mortgage data and Amazon’s technology and is an addition to the UKMortgages lead generation suite which also includes a website and an app. 

Ground-breaking mortgage sourcing

There’s no need to register for the Skill – simply say “Alexa, open UKMortgages,” and Alexa will offer the choice of searching for a mortgage or finding an adviser. Users only need to provide the amount they wish to borrow, their property price and whether they are a first-time buyer, moving home or re-mortgaging.

Alexa will then search through over 10,000 mortgage products and verbally provide details of the headline product based on the previous details given. The results come from the same data used in our sourcing systems, MortgageBrain Classic and MortgageBrain Anywhere, so Alexa sources mortgage products from the whole of market.

Connecting consumers with advisers

Users can also ask Alexa to find them a local adviser. Only Mortgage Brain sourcing customers, at no charge, appear in the list of advisers that can also be found on the UKMortgages app and website.  

Alexa will either use the postcode registered to the user’s device – or an alternative one if provided – to search through thousands of mortgage advisers to find the closest companies. Alexa will then verbally provide the name and phone number of the user’s nearest adviser, and send a further list of up to ten local advisers directly to their Alexa app.
